Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang, Laos – 2018. Luang Prabang is in northern Laos and is located where the Nam Khan River joins the Mekong River. It has many Buddhist temples, some dating back hundreds of years as well and many building dating from the French colonial occupation. There is a morning market primarily for locals and a night market with stalls selling shirts, bracelets, and other souvenirs to the tourists. While in Luang Prabang we stayed at the Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel which once belonging to Laos’ four-time Prime Minister Prince Souvanna Phouma. It is a nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
Every morning at sunrise, monks walk in a procession through the streets accepting alms offered by local residents and tourists (mostly tourists)
